Holidays in WHITE delight

Uncover Namibia's SPECTACULAR Getaway

This Remarkable Wildlife wonder lies nestled at the foot of Damaraland's Brandberg Mountain.
a Vast, compelling wilderness, in north-west Namibia.
The mountain, (the highest in Namibia) is best-known for its rock paintings, especially the 'White Lady'. These fascinating paintings were drawn hundreds of years ago by Bushmen people, who inhabited the area.
Much of the landscape was formed by ancient lave flows, which add to the beauty of the surrounding countryside. It's many unusual rock formations and rare flora, including the endemic Welwitschia Mirabilis at the Petrified Forest, make it a perfect area for hiking and photography alike. The region is also renowned for its geology, as well as the World Heritage Site of rock engravings at Twyfelfontein.

Activities in and around the area:
Guided Elephant Drives

Especially during the drier periods of the year, group of desert elephant rove in the valley of the Ugab river. Here, there is no worry for water and bush and trees to feed on in abundance.

A world of infinite horizons, dramatic vistas and fascinating flora and fauna…

Reported to be the oldest desert on earth, the Namib is approximately 80 million years old. Completely devoid of surface water, it is bisected by several dry riverbeds and is characterised by extensive, undulating dunes. The Sahara may be larger and Gobi more isolated, but the Namib is the very oldest, so on this trip, prepare for the best desert experience possible! Our aim with this trip is to cross the desert from east to west experiencing all the wonders this desert has to offer.

With the assistance of our knowledgeable and experienced guides you will gain an insight into the history and biology of the untamed land.Training and advice will be given en-route and our guides will be on hand to talk you through any obstacles you might encounter. 2 Way radios are issued to each vehicle at the beginning of the trip. Not only are our guides there to get you to your final destination in a safe, enjoyable manner, but to provide you with 3 excellent meals each day.

Uri Adventures

The Adventure...

The Conception Adventure has been developed as a joint venture between the Topnaar Community and URI Adventures.

The Conception Adventure is an unique adventure taking place in the vast sand sea of the Namib Desert south of Walvis Bay offering the ultimate challenge for
thrill seekers with off-road endurance and a taste for adventure.

Time wise there are various options to choose from when planning your Conception trip - the total trip's duration is 4 days/3 nights but some of the sections can be done in isolation, thus allowing the participant to do some of the sections in as little as 2 days.

The rest of the trip can then be done on a more convenient time. Each of the sections offers it's own unique experience and scenery. For this reason it is possible to brake the whole route into shorter tours with very little overlapping on any of the highlighted points in the itinerary.

Skeleton Coast Camp - Important Update

Closure of the Wilderness Skeleton Coast Camp & opening of Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp

As you may already be aware, our operation of Skeleton Coast Main and Research camps have been subject to annual concession continuity for the last few years, with the latest extension expiring at the end of May this year. An unexpected fire at the end of 2011 damaged the main area at Skeleton Coast Main Camp and prompted us to make an earlier firm decision on our continued operation in this area. As we have a very short term remaining on our lease, and it would not make economic sense to re-build the camp for this period, we have made the decision to close the camp.

That said, we have for some time been in negotiation with the Namibian government and communities to establish a new Skeleton Coast Camp south of the existing concession on Namibia’s most productive ephemeral river system, the Hoanib.  We are pleased to advise that as of last week, we have now secured tenure in an area which will be able to provide a new Skeleton Coast offering that in many ways we believe will surpass that of our former camp.

This does of course mean that a new camp has to be built and as a result, we are unable to offer a Skeleton Coast experience for the period 1 March to 31 July 2012.  Where available, we have provisionally booked all guests currently staying in Skeleton Coast Camp into Serra Cafema Camp as an alternative. While not identical to Skeleton Coast, Serra Cafema does offer a similar experience in terms of its absolute remoteness, the vastness of its scenery, a great variety of Namib desert along a river system, and interaction with authentic Himba communities. If Serra Cafema is full on the dates required, your Journey Consultant will liaise with you directly on any affected bookings in order to make suitable alternative arrangements for your clients.

We are hopeful that the new camp will open by 1 August 2012. Confirmation of this is expected within the next week, at which time all existing Skeleton Coast bookings from that date onwards will be moved to the new camp.

Tentatively named Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp, it will be located adjacent to the magnificent Hoanib River in the northern reaches of the Palmwag Concession. Activities (game drives and walking) will access the game rich riverbed (elephant, giraffe, lion, oryx), the plains, river valleys and hillsides to the south (black rhino, oryx, mountain zebra, springbok) and most importantly the downstream reaches of the Hoanib River in the Skeleton Coast National Park. This last area has a very important seep and water system that is frequented by many different game species, as it cuts through a spectacular dune field and accesses the Atlantic Ocean coastline. We expect that the new camp will be a 9-roomed Classic camp, with 8 twins and 1 family room.  Confirmation of this and additional information on the camp, the offering, access and pricing will follow shortly.

We would also like to take this opportunity to apologize for any inconvenience, frustration and possible disappointment experienced as a result of this closure. Circumstances beyond our control have made it a more difficult process than we would have intended.  We are however really excited about the new camp and believe that this will become an integral part of the northern Namibian ecotourism circuit.

A change done to the Ultimate Namibia Safari

As a result of current closure and the uncertainty over the re-opening of Hobatere Lodge they have been obliged to replace the use of this lodge on the ULTIMATE NAMIBIA SAFARI, which is one of their guaranteed departure small group safaris.
They will now be taking guests to stay at the new Dolomite Camp in western Etosha National Park on Day 7 of this itinerary. Dolomite Camp will officially open in June, and will be the newest camp inside any National Park. We are certain that this change will not impact on the quality of the safari and, if anything, it should enhance it as it offers a stay inside the restricted western portion of the Etosha National Park. This change will not affect the price of the safari and the stay there will also include a night drive.

A slight change done to the Ultimate Kalahari, Okavango Delta & Vic Falls Safari

The Tour "Ultimate Kalahari Kalahari, Okavango Delta & Vic Falls Safari" has had to change one establishment in their tour.
Due to the unexpected closure of Monkey Island in the Okavango Delta, they have been forced to replace Monkey Island with an alternative property. We are delighted to announce that they have been able to include Nxamaseri Island Lodge.
This change does not affect the price for the 2011 season.
