Midgard Country Estate is now part of Kempinski Namibia

Kempinski is proud to announce that our partner here in Namibia, Ohlthaver and List Group of companies has awarded us to also manage his property, Midgard Country Estate.

The first phases of integration of the Midgard Country Estate within Kempinski are already underway with synergies in various functions such as sales and marketing, human resources and finance. The official hand over of all operations is scheduled for July 2011. The project shall witness immediate influx of talents and resources to positively influence service standards and tangibly enhance the guest experience.

The initial operation of the property shall still run under the Estate trade name at this stage, the property can be marketed as "Midgard Country Estate managed by Kempinski". The Midgard Country Estate shall benefit from the international exposure, Kempinski global expertise and the association with a world class luxury hotel brand. The decision to integrate the Midgard Country Estate within the Kempinski portfolio was made with a long-term vision to establish a leisure division within the Ohlthaver and List Group incorporating all its hotels and lodges under one umbrella.

Midgard, part of the Ohlthaver and List Group of Companies, means "Empire of the People" and is deeply rooted in Germanic mythology. Karl Werner Rudolf List, grandfather of Sven Thieme, Executive Chairman of the Ohlthaver and List Group of Companies, acquired Midgard in 1937 and till this day the old farm house, built of clay bricks, has been preserved and was converted into a guest farm in 1993.

Midgard Country Estate is situated in the Otjihavera Mountains, and 1.5 hours drive from Windhoek and is a unique guest farm, which has kept its special character as a private country home and African farm. After renovations in 2009, the Estate now offers a choice of luxurious accommodation and different banquet venues.

The Estate boasts 46 air-conditioned rooms with en-suite bathrooms including 5 family rooms and 5 Suites with lounge and private balcony. Midgard offers the perfect setting for leisure travellers, meetings and incentive trips. Due to its location, it is the ideal first port of call to Namibia when on tour.
