The Safari of a Lifetime

Potato Bush Camp lies adjacent to it's sister camp, the world-renowned Sausage Tree Camp. With a stunning panoramic view overlooking the Zambezi River and escarpment, this site is nestled under Mahogany, Sausage, Winter Thorn and Acacia Tortillas Trees, which provide excellent shade. Potato Bush Camp is comprised of three well-appointed Canvas and Rosewood Safari Tents and also a 2-bedroom Family Tent (similar to the very popular Kigelia House at Sausage Tree Camp).

To complement the accommodation there is an open plan dining, bar and lounge area, which is accessed by all four Tents by way of raised timber boardwalks.

Activities

Potato Bush Camp offers professionally guided game drives, scenic canoeing and boat trips, educational walking safaris, exciting night drives and, of course, they love to fish.

Around The Camp

Potato Bush Camp sets high standards in the new era for small exclusive luxury tented safari camps! This African contemporary design perfectly balances the raw structural integrity and natural beauty of solid Zambian Rosewood and dramatically compliments the use of traditional canvas.

The entire camp is linked with raised timber walkways, making it slightly more safer than walking on the ground and also aids in extending the operating season in the Lower Zambezi National Park through to early January every year.

The "Boma" can comfortably dine 12 guests and there is a well stocked bar and two comfortable lounge areas for guests to relax and enjoy the stunning views over the mighty Zambezi River. The camp fire is well positioned under the stars, right on the edge of the river bank and is the only place one actually touches the ground.

Adventure Activities in Zambia

Aside from its incredible National Parks and scenery, Zambia is fast becoming one of Africa’s most acclaimed adventure and extreme sports capitals. A range of action activities, mostly located in the Victoria Falls area, are drawing more and more visitors from all over the globe every year.

Abseiling

The helmeted client is attached to the main rope and safety rope from their harness. Then s/he is gently lowered over the platform. Slowly the rope is let out as the client makes their way down the rock face. Clients improve with each attempt and they can go down as often as time allows.

Bungee Jumping

The highest commercial bridge jump in the world in the most spectacular setting !
This must be the ultimate adrenaline rush, as you leap into space, free as a bird, saved from the swirling water below by the rebound of the cord, then hurtled upwards again at great speed. It’s an indescribable feeling that will probably change your life !

Imagine……Five….Four….Three…Two….One…Bungee !!!!!!

Flights over Victoria Falls

The so-called ‘flight of angels’ is undoubtedly the most breath-taking way to see the magnificent Victoria Falls in all their glory, and to get those picture postcard panoramic photos you have always dreamed of. This is also a great way to see the Zambezi River as it leads up to the Falls, as well as the formation of the spectacular gorges that are carved out below.

Surfing the Zambezi

Hydrospeeding
This is fun, it is exciting and it is easy to do. And it is in a unique location: in the Batoka Gorge, right below the historic bridge, just below the Victoria Falls. They have the new hydrospeed called the ‘Anvil’ that is easy to use: you don’t need prior experience in surfing or body boarding.

Swimming below the Victoria Falls

The most awesome perspective to see the Victoria Falls is from the bottom of the gorge. Swimming in the rock pools below the Falls, surrounded by the massive black basaltic rock towering up above you and the water cascading down, seemingly out of the sky, is an unforgettable experience!

Famous Waterfalls of South Africa

The Tugela Falls

http://www.southern-africa-travel.com/

Located in the Drakensberg, and part of the Tugela River, the Tugela falls are the world’s second highest waterfall and drop a total of 950 meters in five cascades (also making the Tugela Falls the highest cascade of falls in the world). During the winter months, the upper Tugela Falls can freeze, forming ice pillars – a sight not often seen in sunny South Africa!
 The Howick Falls

Howick is a small town in the Natal Midlands, and it’s most famous for its falls. The Howick Falls were most likely first seen by European explorers in the early 19th century as transport riders and wagon trains cut routes inland from the coast. The Howick Falls are easily accessed from Pietermaritzburg (24 kms away), Karkloof and Lions River.

  The Mac Mac Falls

The Mac Mac Falls in the province of Mpumalanga are 65 metres high, and have been declared a National Monument. The waterfall was originally a single stream, but gold hungry Scotsmen, hoping for an easier grasp of the reef over which the river streamed, and therefore an easier grasp of the precious gold the reef contained, dynamited the river in an attempt to divert its flow.  The result is today’s spectacular twin waterfalls, a favourite spot for photographers.

   The Augrabies Falls

Probably the most impressive falls in South Africa, the Augrabies Falls are located about 120km downstream of Upington on the Orange River.  The river, after flowing slowly along sandy soils begins to move through a massive canyon and then descends through a ravine to the main gorge.  Here, the falls drop, through a series of cataracts to a rock enclosed pool 200 metres below.

The Beautiful Senyati Safari Camp

For the Animal Lovers

http://www.botswana-reservations.com/accommodation.html

Situated in the Lesoma Valley, Northern Botswana, 20km from Kasane.Senyati Safaricamp can accommodate both campers and those who prefer some ‘home’ comfort. Although Senyati Safari Camp is very private, the waterhole knows no privacy. A variety of animals come and go throughout the day. The waterhole is frequented by a good variety of species such as hyena, banded mongoose, warthogs, roan antelope, monkey baboons, buffalo, sable, elephants and the occasional leopard.

An early morning cup of coffee can be enjoyed on the deck while the vultures enjoy their early morning drink.  Baboons come from every direction, drinking, eating and even “walking on the trees”.  On a regular basis, mid-mornings is the time to see the roan antelope visit; with the occasional early morning visit from a leopard.  One fish eagle, in particular, has made Senyati’s waterhole his home.

As evening falls and darkness comes the waterhole is lit by yellow flood lights.  While enjoying a sundowner guests are able to enjoy watching family after family of elephants arriving for their evening drink, some even taking a swim.  Once their thirst is satisfied they nobly wonder off into the bush only to repeat their evening ritual the next day.

December and January are the two months favoured by birdwatchers for visiting Senyati Safari Camp.  During these two months there is an abundance of various bird species.  Watchers are able to enjoy their favourite hobby sitting on the deck watching, twitching and ticking off their list of ‘must sees’ as the day progresses.
